The draws for the FA Cup and FA Trophy are now out with Garforth Town FC facing the winner of West Allotment Celtic or Tadcaster Albion in the FA Cup Preliminary Round on Saturday 28th August at The Genix Healthcare Stadium. The potential local tie against Tadcaster Albion is a fantastic draw for Town with many of the fans reminiscing of the record breaking attendance match between the two sides in 2004 when Brazilian legend Socrates featured for The Miners.
In the FA Trophy Garforth have difficult tie against fellow Evo-Stik side Leigh Genesis away on Saturday 2nd October. The two sides played twice in the league last season with Leigh running out the victors on both occasions so Town will be looking to reverse the tide this season to progress on a cup run.

Steve Nichol Looks Forward To New Season |

With the curtain about to rise on another season, Steve Nichol talked openly about the team’s preparation for the coming season, the transfer market and Garforth’s pre season programme.
After a good break the players returned to pre season training at the beginning of the month, the sessions have been very good and the atmosphere excellent. There has been no running, everything has been with the ball, and in this way the players are competing in every session. The football element of training is the most important element, not the physical element, if you do the football early and correctly, the physical element follows. It's automatic.

Garforth Town FC are pleased to announce the signing of Paul Walker after the first week of pre-season. Paul joined Garforth Town after the Christmas deep freeze last season and was a key player in the improvement of results which saw Garforth consolidate their position in the EVOSTIK League Division 1.
Town manager Steve Nichol said, "It is fantastic we have been able to secure Paul Walker for this season as we are looking to strengthen our squad to push for promotion this year. He is one of a number of key players that we have approached to sign this summer, he was heavily sort after due to the goals he scored for Liversedge last season so it is great that he is staying with us. We should be announcing the signings of a number of players very shortly as pre-season kicks in."
Paul Walker said, "I am delighted to stay with Garforth for another season, the club has big ambitions which I would like to be a part of. It was difficult to slot in half way through the season and it took a while for me to notch my first goal but after training with the lads through pre-season hopefully I can hit the new season running and score a few this year."

A group of young footballers are celebrating this week after their fundraising demonstration at Garforth Town Football Club raised over £1,000 for two hospitals in West Yorkshire.
The group of toddlers from SOCATOTS Barnsley sold tickets to friends and families to watch them lead out the Garforth Town first team as mascots last season as well as raffling off some sporting memorabilia in support of the Calderdale Hospital Special Care Baby Unit and the Leeds General Infirmary Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The eight children, aged 2-4 years, from SOCATOTS Barnsley also wrapped up warm to take part in a half-time demonstration of some of the skills they had been working on in front of around one hundred applauding fans at the Genix Healthcare Stadium recently.
The group took part in Garforth Town’s “Matchday Experience” which gives junior clubs the opportunity to raise money for a good cause whilst engaging a group of local children with the club by making them mascots and ballboys for the day. This opportunity is open to groups up to 11 years of age and can be football teams, schools, scouts, cubs or SOCATOTS.

Janine Jones, Head of SOCATOTS Barnsley commented “It is amazing that so many friends and family supported the children in their demonstration at Garforth. All the children enjoyed the day and I received a number of compliments from spectators who had never experienced SOCATOTS before on the co-ordination and skills that were on show. We are looking forward to repeating the experience again at Garforth Town next season and may invite some of our older players from the Brazilian Soccer School in Barnsley to join us.”
North East Leeds Juniors under 10s team also took advantage of the opportunity earlier in the season to raise over £300 towards club funds.
If you are involved with a group of children who may be interested in taking part in the Garforth Town “Matchday Experience” next season please contact the club on 0113 2877145 or email
