Garforth Town v Ossett Albion

By Reiss Silva ossett albionv garforth

Garforth Town will head into this weekend’s West Yorkshire derby against Ossett Albion looking to bounce back from back to back league defeats.

Town were in fantastic form which pushed them up into the play off positions, however their last 2 league games have ended in defeat, albeit against the divisions leading sides. Although they failed to pick up any points in their previous 2, performances in those games will give the home side a lot of confidence of picking up 3 points and getting back on track in their promotion push.

Both sides suffered Tuesday night cup defeats at home which means they can both fully concentrate on league commitments.

The away side come into this game on a dismal run. Since beating Skelmersdale 2-1 in December, Albion have suffered 3 straight defeats without ever threatening to take anything from the matches.  They have conceded 11 goals in this time, going down 4-0 twice and 3-0. Ossett sit one place and two points outside the relegation zone and are desperate for a positive result.

This encounter will see the league’s 2nd top scorers come up against the league’s 3rd worse defence which could result in a repeat of the 5-2 victory to Town earlier in the season.  Garforth’s home form has been decent this year, winning 9 of 15 games. This compared to the away record of Albion who have lost 10 out of 14 on the road points to a straight forward victory for Steve Nicol’s men.

Each of the teams need the 3 points for different reasons, both as important as the other and although stats and the league table suggests a home win, football is never that straight forward and Garforth cannot afford to take this game lightly.

*Due to the freezing weather of late, there will be a pitch inspection tomorrow morning. We will update as soon as possible if the game is on/ off.
